Ward Overview
The 40th Ward is located in Chicago’s northeast side. The wards boundaries include parts of many neighborhoods: Andersonville, Lincoln Square, Edgewater, West Ridge Arcadia Terrace, and Bowmanville. The ward is bordered by the Chicago River to the west, Lawrence Ave to the south and Clark street to the east and includes Rosehill Cemetery the largest cemetery in Chicago. Much of the ward is heavily residential with ten elementary schools and three high schools.
2020 PB CycleDuring the 2020 PB cycle 9, the 40th Ward hosted 2 idea collection events. Community representatives worked with ward staff and city agencies to develop 6 ballot items, including street resurfacing. Voting took place from November 30 through December 17. 679 residents voted at the ward office and in the community.
